This policy explains what information Plainview Oil Company, LLC (“Plainview,” “we,” “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to plainviewoilcompany.com and to email and mail we send.

1. Information you give us

When you use our contact form, email us, or call, we receive what you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you tell us about your interests or property.

2. Information from public records

We want to be straightforward about this, because it is how our business works.

Plainview identifies mineral and royalty owners using publicly available records — county clerk filings, recorded deeds and leases, probate records, and filings of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. That is where we typically obtain an owner’s name, mailing address, and the description of the interest recorded in their name.

If we have contacted you without prior dealings, this is almost certainly why. We did not buy your information from a data broker, and we do not sell it.

3. Information collected automatically

This Site is served as static pages by GitHub Pages. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers and we do not set cookies for tracking. Our hosting provider records standard server access logs, including IP addresses, as part of delivering the site.

To respond to enquiries you send us
To contact owners about acquiring mineral, royalty, or leasehold interests
To evaluate, negotiate, document, and close transactions
To keep records we are required to keep, and to comply with applicable law

5. Email and your right to opt out

Our outreach email complies with the CAN-SPAM Act. Every commercial message identifies us, includes our physical mailing address, and tells you how to stop receiving further messages.

You may opt out at any time by replying UNSUBSCRIBE to any message, or by following the instructions on our unsubscribe page. We honor requests promptly and within 10 business days. There is no cost, and we will not ask you for anything beyond the address to be removed.

We retain unsubscribed addresses on a suppression list so that you are not contacted again if your name reappears in a later search of public records. That list is used only to prevent contact.

6. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Professionals engaged on a transaction — title attorneys, landmen, abstractors, and closing agents
Service providers who host our site or handle our email, to the extent needed to provide those services
Government bodies or others where required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to establish or defend a legal claim

7. Retention

We keep enquiry and transaction records for as long as needed for the purposes above and to satisfy legal, tax, and title-record requirements — which, for recorded interests, can be a long time. Suppression-list entries are kept indefinitely, as described above.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. This Site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so please do not send sensitive documents or account numbers through the contact form.

9. Your choices

Opt out of email — see section 5 or the unsubscribe page
Opt out of postal mail — write or call and ask; include the mailing address to remove
Ask what we hold, or ask us to correct or delete it — contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law. Some records tied to recorded instruments cannot be deleted.

10. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The revised version takes effect when posted and the date at the top of this page will change.
